From Fire to Vision
In the early hours of a cold, rainy Tuesday morning, as our family was beginning the day, our beloved Sun Temple — a sacred wooden home and ceremony space — caught fire and burned to the ground. We watched in shock as flames devoured not only our forever home, but the physical vessel of years of memories, music, and ceremony. It was the heart of our family and our work in service of others. We were devastated. With no insurance and minimal savings, what happened next was nothing short of miraculous. Friends, family, and community — from Cape Town to across the world — rallied around us. They held us through the ashes and helped us believe that something even more beautiful could rise. This new vision is The Phoenix Sanctuary: A place of healing, ceremony, and resilience — a space for those walking through loss, transition, and rebirth. This sanctuary will stand as a living symbol of the human spirit’s ability to rise again.
From Vision to Intention
The vision for new The Phoenix Sanctuary was born from the ashes of our former home — the Sun Temple — and carries the deep intention of family and community woven together. At its heart, the new sanctuary is being envisioned as two living chambers: one that will hold our family, our daily rhythms, and the intimacy of home; and another that will open to the public as a space for ceremony, yoga, music, art, and gatherings that bring people together in healing and creative expression. This project is both deeply personal and beautifully collective — a family home rising as a sanctuary for all. Built with sustainability, autonomy, and reverence for the land, it stands as a living symbol of renewal, love, and the enduring truth that from the fire, we rise together.

The vision has been born. The plans have been drawn. The intention has been set. Now we find ourselves standing in the liminal space between what is dreamed and what needs to be built.
It is within this gap that we call upon our community — the circle that has always held us and the wider circle that we encounter. We know there is a mountain to climb and miracles to manifest, but we also know we do not climb alone. We need your help and energy to realise this dream.Â

The Family Heartbeat
 We know that we are deeply fortunate; had the fire occurred in the night, the outcome could have been truly tragic. While this loss brought profound challenges, it also arrived with unexpected gifts — teachings, awakenings, and the dream of a new space. We are deeply grateful for every beautiful soul who stepped in to be a part of our journey; you have inspired us not just to recover but to dream.
We know the road ahead is long, and that a few more miracles will be needed to bring this vision fully to life. Yet we walk it with faith, gratitude, and community.
We are a medicine family, and the heartbeat of our family will be the heartbeat of this space.
